DonutSMP Beginner’s Guide: A Practical First-Week Plan

Your first goal on DonutSMP should be understanding the server you are joining. Treat old videos, price guides and account-age claims as things to check against current in-game information.

First session: learn before spending

Read the rules, connection instructions and help shown by the server. Confirm which commands and protections are actually available. Do not assume a claimed area, teleport request or trade window works like one from another SMP.

Build a recoverable starting kit

Gather food and basic tools before carrying valuable equipment. Keep a small reserve of supplies so a death does not erase your entire session. Choose an initial building project you can afford to lose while learning the environment.

Check every trade

Read the item, quantity and price before confirming. Keep different balances and currencies separate in your notes. Avoid hurried hand-offs and “pay first” promises. Do not send real money or account credentials to someone offering special access in a private message.

Understand playtime listings

An advertised playtime total describes recorded activity. It does not, by itself, prove immunity from restrictions, a trusted trading history or access to every feature. If comparing playtime accounts, ask which specific attributes the listing actually guarantees.

Review after a few sessions

Note what you earned, lost and enjoyed. Spend on equipment that supports that activity instead of following an unverified profit formula. Recheck rules before using automation or alternate accounts. Use the security checklist to protect login access, and use official server channels for questions about permissions.
